Genocide in Nandigram, about 18 killed in Police Firing
About 18 people were killed and 63 innocent civilian were injured in clashes between police and protestors at Nandigram in West Bengal.
Police fired several rounds in the air and burst teargas shells at Nandigram in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district.Two Journalist of Tara Newz were kidnapped and beaten by CPI(M) activists. One of them is still missing. Several other Journists from different News Channel were held by Police and CPI(M) activists and debard from moving to Nandigram. It seems that Police and CPI(M) are trying to supressing truth from the world to save their ugly face being exposed.
The police were attacked by activists protesting land acquisition for the proposed SEZ in Nandigram. State police chief A B Vohra said 25 people were arrested and eight improvised arms, including pipeguns and ammunition, were seized from Nandigram where patrolling by police has been intensified. The state government has regretted the incident saying the police firing was necessiated because the organised elements were pelting bombs and pipe guns at the police.
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya is likely to make a statement on the Nandigram situation in the assembly on Thursday. Addressing a hurriedly called press conference following fresh violence in Nandigram, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee claimed that over 20 bodies were found in Nandigram and more than 200 people received bullet injuries in police firing at the trouble spot in East Mindapore district.”We are compelled to declare a 12-hour general strike on Friday because of the massacre and bloodshed there. It is state sponsored terrorism,” Banerjee told a packed news conference at her Kalighat residence.
“We know that the Higher Secondary, ICSE and CBSE exams are on. But it is the chief minister who has to take responsibility,” she said. “The chief minister has unleashed terror in Nandigram to grab land,” Banerjee alleged.She demanded that Centre must sack the Buddhadeb government in the larger interest of farmers and people.”The chief minister has disgraced the chair he is occupying. If any government resorts to state sponsored terrorism, it must be sacked,” she said. She said leaders of Krishijami Raksha Committee would rush to Nandigram later in the day.
