Kaalbaishakhi or SummerEscape — Try it …

People who use to be a reguler visitor of “Oh Calcutta” ( a leading restaurant at Forum, Elgin Road, Kolkata” ) must know about their cocktails named ” Kalbaisakhi” .

Named after Bengal’s own brief squalls and thunderstorms known as “Kalbaisakhi” in early summer, resulting the country side is lashed by heavy rains, strong and squally winds, huge cloud formations and hail with lots of thunder and lightening.

Now back to the drink. This is a Vodka based cocktail with a surprise taste of Green Mango - the fruit of summer here.

Having this great drink couple of times there, I have decided to try it at my own and see what i come up finaly..

Well, first of all , lets name it. I liked “SummerEscape” …;-) Apprecaite any other suggetions too..

here it comes ….

INGREDIENTS ::

60 ml Smirnoff Vodka

1 pack of Green Mango Frooti

Ice cubes ( 4 is a good number)

A dash of chilled soda

Here is my addition — One green chilli, sliced down the middle

Place the green chilli in a tall glass and pour in the vodka. This brings out the chilli’s sharpness. Mix the rest of the ingedients in a cocktail shaker and pour into the glass.

Garnish with Green Chilli instead of sliced mango

And you are enjoying vodka with a diferent style.
